Oulu, Finland and Seelbach, Germany – February 11, 2025 – TactoTek, the global leader in In-Mold Structural Electronics (IMSE®) technology, has entered a license agreement with New Albea, which expands IMSE solution design and manufacturing capacity and increases the functional range of IMSE solutions.
New Albea is a trusted supplier to automotive, home electronics, and telecommunications industries, with advanced Film Insert Molding (FIM) and precision manufacturing capabilities. The company is a full-service provider from design and toolmaking to all IMSE production processes including decorative and electronics printing, thermoforming, and injection molding.
“New Albea’s proven leadership in FIM manufacturing and their vertically integrated production system make them an excellent partner for scaling IMSE mass production,” said Marko Suo-Anttila, SVP of Consulting and Services at TactoTek. “In addition, New Albea’s wire embedding technology expands the capabilities of IMSE solutions by increasing the amount of electrical current available in IMSE parts: More power, more function.”
IMSE solutions integrate electronics, mechanics, and cosmetic surfaces within light, thin, single-piece parts made using efficient film insert molding. Dynamic lighting, responsive touch controls, sensors, and connectivity are commonly integrated within IMSE parts. IMSE parts are produced using clean additive processes and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 65% relative to conventional electronics designs.
“Across automotive and household industries many of our customers rely on New Albea for FIM decorative surfaces in conventional multi-part assemblies. IMSE provides enhanced design flexibility and the ability to advance those decorative surfaces into fully functional single-piece FIM electronics solutions that our customers envision,” said Thomas Schuller, General Manager at New Albea.
TactoTek, Oy (Oulu, Finland), is the world leader in developing and licensing in-mold structural electronics (IMSE®) technologies.
